WHEREAS, fascist and authoritarian movements rely on repression and attacks on democratic institutions to maintain power; and
WHEREAS, the Trump Administration and MAGA rely on the tools of fascism to maintain any kind of power because the reality of their economic policies actually hurts the working class, which is 98% of people in the United States; and
WHEREAS, the Trump administration has announced that it will stop covering gender-affirming care for federal employees and their families beginning in 2026; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Transportation sent crews to Orlando’s Pulse nightclub memorial and quietly erased one of its most visible tributes: the rainbow crosswalk that had stretched across West Esther Street since 2017; and
WHEREAS, the Justice Department has asked nearly two dozen hospitals around the country to provide extensive personal information about young patients who have received gender-affirming care; and
WHEREAS, the Trump Administration has attempted to take over D.C. and has federalized the police force, bringing in hundreds of national guard troops from across the country, federal officers from the DEA, FBI, DHS and more, as well as masked, unknown individuals without badges to attack and kidnap people off of the streets; and
WHEREAS, in 96 cases of democratic backsliding (1900-2019), 68% collapsed into authoritarian rule. In those cases where there was labor movement participation, anti-authoritarian movements had a success rate of 83 percent; and

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, Pride At Work condemns the escalating authoritarian attacks on trans kids and their families, federal workers, health care workers, hospitals, immigrants, our Constitutional rights, and democracy itself; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, Pride At Work will continue building and wielding the power of the people to create a country and economy where everyone can thrive; and
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, Pride At Work acknowledges the tremendous power and responsibility as a labor movement and as LGBTQIA+ people, but especially as queer unionists in this moment to organize and win.

WHEREAS, it continues to be reported that sexual abuse, physical assaults, sexual harassment and general attacks in immigration detention take place due to detainees’ 2SLGBTQIA+ identity, including being targets of homophobic, transphobic, xenophobic, racist, or other verbal and nonverbal abuse in Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) jails; and
WHEREAS, detainees report having their sexual orientation, gender identity, HIV status or other confidential medical information disclosed in custody without their consent; and
WHEREAS, Policies advanced by this current president, during his previous and current administrations, have undermined union rights, threatened immigrant communities, attacked democratic institutions, rolled back civil liberties, and prioritized corporate interests over workers’ well-being; and

WHEREAS, The labor movement is rooted in the fight for justice, dignity, and collective rights for all working people, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, immigration status, background, and health status; and
WHEREAS, It is the duty of the unions to defend our fellow workers against oppression and racist attacks, thus exemplifying the labor union’s axiom “An injury to one is an injury to all.”;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Pride at Work calls for the monitoring and reporting of abuses against migrant workers, immigrants and their families, within worksites, in their homes, churches and communities, and at federal immigration processing sites; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Pride at Work condemns any and all hostility, violence and mistreatment leveled against 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, within federal Immigration and ICE detention centers that perpetuate a hostile climate full of hate-filled comments and slurs threatening harm and even death, creating unsafe conditions, and placing our siblings at risk for their lives despite detention standards already in place meant to ensure the safety of our transgender family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Pride at Work strongly opposes the practice of placing our asylum-seeking 2SLGBTQIA+ and HIV+ siblings into the massive network of prisons and jails run by the CPB and ICE facilities, infamous for their inhumane practices and for-profit model, and institutions where a high rate of physical and sexual violence, improper and prolonged solitary confinement, and inadequate medical care are the norm; and
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that Pride at Work strongly urges the AFL-CIO and our labor family to join us in speaking out loudly against these horrible practices, supporting legislative action to phase out these abusive immigration detentions, and condemning hostilities against our most vulnerable siblings, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, or HIV status, always advancing equality, dignity and morality within every aspect of the work we advance
