Pride at Work joins allied organizations to demand: SAVE 988

This past weekend, Pride at Work joined Friends of Trevor United, CWA 1180, the Central Labor Council, Pride at Work NYC and Long Island chapter leaders, union siblings and allied organizations at SAVE 988 in front of Trump Tower in New York City in response to the Trump administration announcing that it would be dismantling the 988 "Option 3" crisis hotline. PRIDE 988 receives more than 400,000 contacts a year. These cuts remove 220+ jobs from CWA-1180 members and more from crisis workers at other organizations putting thousands of lives at risk.

We raised our voice to demand that queer and trans youth who are in crisis are protected - which should be the bare minimum. The reign of terror Trump and his MAGA Congress are waging against us is already hurting LGBQTIA+ people of all ages, especially our trans and non-binary siblings. Going after kids is especially cruel. The hate and fear these extremists led by Trump are stoking is already costing lives. By cutting support for suicide hotlines where queer and trans youth can find the support they need to stay alive, Trump is going to have a lot more blood on his hands. And we won’t stand for it!

We joined together across the differences that billionaires and MAGA try to use to divide us. We will be out in the streets, organizing, marching, and disrupting, to protect our trans and queer loved ones every day until we not only stop cuts to the 988 queer crisis lines and stop the fascist takeover of our federal government, but until we build the future where ALL of us can thrive!

NO MORE CUTS: We demand that the Trump Administration resume service for the LGBTQ+ Suicide Hotline and that all crisis workers effected keep their jobs!
