Transgender Day of Remembrance

Especially on Transgender Day of Remembrance we hold in our hearts all of our trans, non-binary, and gender non-conforming siblings who have been stolen from us through violence. Each year on  November 20th we collectively take time to sit with the grief, the rage, and the heartbreak because each of their lives were precious.

As we reflect on how we honor our siblings' memory, we must defy those who want us to give into despair and hopelessness. We must dare to dream of a world where trans people are safe, cherished, and thriving, and every day recommit ourselves to organizing for that reality.

Alex Gonzalez (UUP member) and Yan Vazquez (CSEA member) are a married couple who were abducted by ICE when they arrived for an immigration hearing regarding their asylum case on 10/29. Due process is a constitutional right of every person on U.S. soil. And everyone deserves the right to seek safety and opportunity. Pride At Work is proud to have submitted an amicus brief in solidarity with athlete JayCee Cooper in her case against USA Powerlifting. The Minnesota Supreme Court recently ruled on the case, affirming that trans people deserve equal access to opportunities and spaces where they can thrive and belong!
